I am often consumed with the question “How can God’s Kingdom come and his will be done on earth as it is in heaven?” On our recent trip to Canada to meet with Bishop Silas, Fr. Peter Klenner and Fr. Dave De Jong, I was inspired by the clarity and consistency of all three as they shared their passion to have a personal and corporate culture of daily intimacy with Jesus in order to know him, hear him and obey him daily.
A quote from one of my favorite authors, Henri Nouwen, might sum it up for me:
“It is not enough that Jesus is my teacher, my guide, my source of inspiration. It is not even enough that He is my companion on the journey, my friend and my brother. Jesus must become the heart of my heart, the fire of my life, the lover of my soul, the bridegroom of my spirit. He must become my only thought, my only concern, my only desire. The thousands of people, events, ideas and plans that occupy my inner life must become all one in the one and only name; Jesus.” As that is happening, His Kingdom will be coming and will be established in my life and in the lives of those with whom I am privileged and humbled to live.
