MISSIONAL THEOLOGY

We believe that the Mission of the Church is to fulfill the Mission and Ministry of Jesus.  His Mission, His Ministry, His Way.

His Mission from the Father:

to proclaim good news to the poor
to proclaim liberty to the captives
  recovery of sight to the blind;
to set at liberty those who are  oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

(Luke 4:18-22)

Jesus  sends them out into the world in the same way the Father sent him:
As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you. (John 20:21)

He had already alluded to the methodology  of their Mission and Ministry in him:

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.  (John 14:12)

He sums up the call in the Great Commission:

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,

[Evangelism & Discipleship]
baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

[Evangelism]

teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

[Discipleship]
(Matthew 28:19-20)

NB: Discipleship which teaches, equips and empowers the church to fulfill the Mission and Ministry of Jesus exactly the same way he taught the disciples using the Charisms or Gifts of the Spirit.
